Are you one of those people who have always wanted to give horse riding a go but never gotten around to it?
Not sure if it’s for you and you don’t want to pay a fortune to try it.
Then our taster lessons are for you.
They last about 20 minutes and cost £15
What will you do in this time?
Firstly you will need to find a riding hat to fit in our tack room, there are about 20 hats to chose from so hopefully one should fit.
You will then meet your horse and your instructor will ‘tack’ him/her up.
This is a good way to meet and greet your steed.
Following this you will be taken to the arena and shown how to mount and dismount the horse.
There are mounting blocks available to help you achieve this.
Basics will then be taught such as; how to hold and shorten the reins, a basic explanation of how to sit on the horse and steer it and then you are off.
Walking around the arena on your horse will give you an idea of the ‘feel’ of the horse’s movement and you must be relaxed enough to feel this motion.
If there is time and you make good progress you may be shown how to do a ‘rising trot’ and possibly have a go.
Thus ends the lesson and you may be asked to help put your horse away.
This is a good time to quiz your instructor about anything that you didn’t understand and to book in for a full lesson.
